Ash Vale grew up around the railway station and feels more suburban than Ash proper. Mostly 1930s semis and some interwar terraces, with newer estates filling in the gaps. Ash Vale station is the one most residents actually use, with a direct service to Waterloo in about an hour. The Basingstoke Canal runs through, which gives you a nice towpath walk and a bit of greenery. There's a small row of shops on the Vale Road but you'll drive to Aldershot or Farnborough for a proper supermarket. The Army presence from Aldershot is noticeable, with some MOD housing and a steady turnover of military families.
