Chadwell Heath straddles the Barking and Dagenham / Redbridge border and feels different from the rest of the borough. The high road has a decent stretch of shops and takeaways. Housing is a mix of 1930s semis and some Victorian terraces, slightly better condition than deeper into Dagenham. The Elizabeth line now stops at Chadwell Heath which has made it significantly more connected. It has always been one of the more settled parts of the borough and the Redbridge side lifts the overall feel.
