Golders Green is defined by its large Orthodox Jewish community, which gives it a distinctive character you won't find anywhere else in London. The high street along Golders Green Road has kosher restaurants, bakeries, and shops alongside mainstream chains. The Hippodrome is a local landmark. Golders Green tube (Northern line) connects you straight to the West End and City. Housing runs from grand Edwardian houses near the Heath extension to more modest terraces and mansion flats. Golders Hill Park is beautiful. On Shabbat and Jewish holidays the whole area transforms, with the streets quieter and shops closed.
