Mill Hill has two distinct parts. The village at the top of the ridge has a genuine rural feel, with a few shops, a pub, and views across to Harrow. Mill Hill Broadway at the bottom has the Thameslink station and a more conventional suburban high street. The two are connected by The Ridgeway, which runs past several well-known private schools including Mill Hill School and Belmont. Housing varies enormously from large detached houses in the village to ex-council near the Broadway. Arrandene Open Space and Mill Hill Park offer good green space. It's a place that feels further from London than it actually is.
