Stoke Poges is best known for the churchyard that inspired Thomas Gray's Elegy, and it still has that quiet, rural English feel. The village is small with no real shops to speak of. Housing is a mix of large detached properties and some newer builds, with Stoke Park golf club taking up a big chunk of the area. You're close to Slough for the Elizabeth line or Gerrards Cross for Chiltern Railways, but this is a place that assumes you have a car. It's affluent, very green, and genuinely feels like countryside despite being sandwiched between Slough and the M40.
