Caddington is a large village sitting on the Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire border, just south of Dunstable and a few miles from Luton. It feels distinctly separate from Luton despite the proximity, with a proper village centre around the church, a pub, and a village hall. The housing is a mix of older cottages along the main road and postwar estates that filled in around them. The Chilterns AONB starts right on the doorstep, so the countryside to the south is genuinely lovely walking territory. Families settle here for the space and the village primary school, but you are car-dependent for almost everything. The nearest station is Luton, which means a drive or bus before you even start your commute.
