Camden Town is a tourist destination that also happens to be a place where people live. The Lock, the market, the High Street on weekends, it's relentless. The residential streets behind the main drag are surprisingly quiet, with Victorian terraces and some council stock. Camden Town tube (Northern line) is one of the busiest stations in London, and they occasionally close it at weekends because of overcrowding. The Regent's Canal towpath runs through, which is a lovely walk when it's not packed. Nightlife is still going strong, with live music venues everywhere. You'd live here because you like the energy, not because you want peace and quiet.
