Britwell is a large council estate built in the 1950s on Slough's northern edge. It was one of the biggest municipal housing projects outside London, designed to rehouse families from bomb-damaged areas. The housing is mostly two-storey terraces and semis with decent-sized gardens. It has had a hard reputation over the years, but there's a strong sense of community among long-term residents. The Britwell Community Hub replaced the old library. Shopping is limited to a small parade. Wexham Park Hospital is just next door, which is either convenient or noisy depending on where you live.
