Cuffley is a proper Hertfordshire commuter village, the kind where everyone knows which train they catch and the station car park fills up by half seven. Housing is mostly detached 1930s through 1960s houses on generous plots, with some larger properties tucked away on roads like The Ridgeway. Northaw is even smaller, basically a hamlet with a church and a pub, surrounded by fields and ancient woodland. Northaw Great Wood is the real draw for dog walkers and weekend families. The station gives you a direct run into Moorgate on the Great Northern, which keeps prices high for what is essentially a village in the middle of nowhere. There's a small parade of shops on Station Road in Cuffley for basics but you'll be driving to Potters Bar or Cheshunt for a proper supermarket.
