Plumstead is working-class south-east London. The high street has seen better days but still has the essentials: butchers, grocers, pound shops, a decent Turkish barber. Plumstead station is on the Elizabeth line now, which has changed the maths for commuters. The housing is a mix of Victorian terraces, interwar semis, and council estates. Plumstead Common is a genuine asset, a big open space that connects through to Shooters Hill. It's diverse, unpretentious, and one of the more affordable parts of the borough with actual transport links.
