Rowlands Castle is the standout in this group. A proper village with a green, a pub, a parish church, and a real sense of community. It has its own station on the Portsmouth Direct line, which makes London commuting feasible. Staunton Country Park is right on the doorstep and the South Downs National Park surrounds the village. Housing ranges from period cottages near the green to larger detached homes in the lanes around. It is noticeably more affluent than Horndean and has the kind of village feel that people actively seek out. The primary school is well regarded.
