Isleworth has a proper village feel around the riverfront, with period properties and a few good pubs. Old Isleworth, around the church and the Thames, is genuinely attractive, with Georgian and Victorian houses facing the water. The rest of Isleworth is more mixed, with 1930s housing and some newer developments. Syon Park borders the area. Isleworth station gets you to Waterloo in about 35 minutes. It's less well-known than Chiswick next door but shares some of the same river-setting appeal at lower prices.
