Kingston town centre is one of the best shopping destinations in south London. The Bentall Centre, the ancient market place, the riverside walks, and a good range of restaurants and bars. Kingston University gives it a younger demographic than you might expect. Housing in the centre is mainly apartments and period terraces. The Thames path through Canbury Gardens is a genuine asset. Kingston station provides trains to Waterloo in about 30 minutes. It's busy and commercial, but the riverside gives it breathing room.
