Two proper villages sitting on the ridge south of the M25. Bletchingley has a long high street with a few pubs and a village store, and some genuinely old buildings around the church. Nutfield is smaller and quieter, strung along the ridge road with views south across the Weald. Housing is a mix of older cottages, some larger detached houses, and a scattering of 1960s and 70s infill. You need a car for everything beyond the basics. Both villages have that settled, been-here-for-years feel.
