Southcote is a large post-war housing area in south-west Reading. A lot of council-built stock, some now privately owned. The Southcote linear park along the Holybrook is a nice local amenity. It's affordable and has a community feel, with local shops along the Southcote Lane area. Not fancy, but practical for families on a budget.
