Stock

Stock is a proper Essex village, the kind with a large green, a cricket pitch, and a couple of decent pubs. It sits between Chelmsford and Billericay, surrounded by farmland, and feels genuinely rural despite being within reach of both towns by car. Housing is mostly large detached places and period cottages, with prices that reflect the postcode. There is no station in the village itself so you are driving to Billericay or Ingatestone for the train. The Bear Inn and the Hoop are both well known locally. It is a place for people who want the countryside feel without being completely isolated, and who can afford to pay for it.
