Leytonstone has more going on than Leyton and a stronger sense of identity. The High Road has a proper mix of independent shops, pubs, and restaurants. Hitchcock was born here and the mosaics in the tube station are a nice touch. Housing is Victorian and Edwardian terraces, mostly larger than Leyton's stock. Wanstead Flats and Hollow Ponds are close. It attracts families who cannot afford Wanstead and young professionals who cannot afford Hackney. The Central line is the main commute route.
