Church Street is the Westminster that tourists never see. The street market has been running for over 150 years, selling fruit, veg, fabrics, and household goods. The surrounding estates are some of the most deprived in central London, and regeneration plans have been talked about for years. Edgware Road tube is the nearest station. The community is hugely diverse, with large Bangladeshi, Somali, and Arab populations. It sits in odd contrast to the wealth around it, literally minutes from Marylebone and Lisson Grove. The Alfie's Antique Market at the top end brings in a different crowd entirely.
