Abbots Langley proper has a recognisable village centre around the High Street and the church, with housing that ranges from Victorian cottages near the old core to 1930s semis and some larger postwar estates further out. Bedmond is a much smaller hamlet to the north, separated by fields and genuinely rural in feel. The primary schools have a good reputation locally and families tend to stay put once they are in. There is no station in the village itself so most people drive to Watford Junction or Kings Langley. The Abbots Langley manor house grounds and Leavesden Country Park are the main green spaces. It is comfortable and quiet without being particularly remarkable.
