Arlesey is a large village that has grown steadily with new housing estates, particularly around the edges near the station. The old village centre has a few pubs, a church, and not much else for daily shopping. The station on the Great Northern line is what puts it on the map for London commuters. Housing is a mix of older cottages along the High Street and a lot of modern estate houses from the 1990s onwards. It does not have a strong identity but it is affordable and the train link is genuine.
