NW11 7
HGS is one of the most architecturally distinctive areas in London. The entire estate was designed by Raymond Unwin and Barry Parker in the early 1900s as a planned garden suburb, and the Trust still controls what you can do to your house. Hedges, not fences. Arts and Crafts houses on wide, tree-lined roads with proper verges. No pubs, no shops within the suburb itself, which is deliberate. Golders Green and East Finchley tubes are both walkable from the edges. The Big Wood and Little Wood are ancient woodlands. It's expensive, quiet, and architecturally controlled to a degree that some people find charming and others find stifling.
