High Barnet

High Barnet sits at the very top of the Northern line and the very edge of London. The old town centre along the High Street has a proper historic feel, with a medieval church, a clutch of independent shops, and several decent pubs. The annual Barnet Fair has been running since the 1100s. Housing is a mix of period cottages near the centre and interwar semis further out. Hadley Green and Monken Hadley Common give it a semi-rural setting. It genuinely feels more like a Hertfordshire market town than a London suburb, which is exactly why people live here.
