New Barnet

New Barnet grew up around the Great Northern Railway station and retains a small town-centre feel along East Barnet Road and Station Road. There's a reasonable selection of shops, cafes and takeaways. The Great Northern service into Moorgate and Kings Cross is the main commuter route. Housing is predominantly Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the station, with 1930s stock further out. King George's Playing Fields and Victoria Recreation Ground provide space. It's a notch more affordable than High Barnet and appeals to commuters who want a quick train ride into the City.
