Crayford has its own identity as a small town on the River Cray, right on the border with Dartford. The high street has independent shops, pubs, and a greyhound stadium that draws people from across south-east London. Crayford station runs Southeastern services. The housing is a mix of Victorian terraces near the centre and 1930s semis further out. The Cray river corridor gives it some green character. It feels more like a Kent town than a London suburb, which some people like and others find too far from anything.
