North Laine is Brighton's creative quarter. Independent shops, vintage stores, record shops, vegan cafes, and a general atmosphere of trying quite hard. It's the bit tourists photograph after the seafront. West Hill above it is more residential and quieter, with some of the city's oldest streets. Brighton station sits between the two. Living here means you can walk to basically everything, but you'll pay for the privilege and the weekends are loud. It's the area that defines what people think of when they think of Brighton.
