Two distinct villages grouped together. Braughing is the smaller of the two, centred on a ford over the River Quin with a proper village green and some nice period cottages. Standon is larger, with a long high street, a couple of pubs, and a primary school. Both feel genuinely rural rather than commuter-belt suburban. The trade-off is that you are completely car-dependent. No train station anywhere nearby, and the bus service is minimal. People move here because they want space, quiet, and countryside on the doorstep, and they accept the driving that comes with it.
