Highgate straddles Camden and Haringey, with the village at the top of the hill shared between both boroughs. The village itself is picture-postcard: a handful of pubs, independent shops, the Flask, and Highgate Cemetery where Karl Marx is buried. Waterlow Park is gorgeous. The housing stock includes some genuinely grand Georgian and Victorian properties. Highgate tube (Northern line) is down the hill on Archway Road, which is a steep walk. Most of the expensive residential streets are on the Camden side. Families, older professionals, and people who've inherited property from their parents. It's a place that doesn't need to try hard because it's been desirable for 300 years.
