The King's Cross regeneration is one of London's biggest transformation stories. Granary Square, Coal Drops Yard, the canal-side restaurants, Central Saint Martins, and the Google building have turned a formerly grim area behind the stations into a major destination. The residential element is mostly new-build flats, expensive and architecturally striking. St Pancras International and King's Cross stations give you every rail connection imaginable. The older streets east towards Caledonian Road still have a grittier edge. It's impressive but can feel a bit corporate, like a development brochure come to life.
