Colnbrook & Poyle

Colnbrook has an old village core along its High Street, with The Ostrich Inn claiming to be one of the oldest pubs in England and some attractive period cottages near the Colne Brook. That is the nice bit. The reality is that you are right under the Heathrow flight path, sandwiched between the M4 and M25, and much of the surrounding area is industrial or logistics. Poyle to the south is almost entirely trading estates and warehousing. Plane noise is constant and unavoidable. People live here because it is affordable relative to the rest of the area and close to airport jobs, not because of the village charm. The Colnbrook bypass took some traffic out of the village centre but it still feels like a place that exists in the shadow of the airport.
