South Norwood

South Norwood has its own identity, distinct from both Norwood proper and Crystal Palace up the hill. The clock tower is the local landmark. The high street along Portland Road has an interesting mix of Caribbean food shops, independent cafes, and charity shops. Norwood Junction station gives you Overground and Southern services. South Norwood Lake and grounds is a pleasant local park. Victorian terraces make up most of the housing, many of them still affordable by south London standards. It has an independent, unpretentious character that some people really warm to.
