The town centre and the streets immediately around it. Ashton Square and the Quadrant shopping area are here, along with the Priory Church, which is one of the finest Norman churches in Bedfordshire. The high street has more charity shops and takeaways than anyone would like, but there is a Tesco, a market on certain days, and the basics are covered. Housing is a mix of Victorian terraces behind the high street, some 1960s flats, and a few newer conversions. It is walkable and cheap, which is the main draw.
