Ealing Broadway is the commercial heart of the borough and it punches above its weight as a town centre. The Elizabeth line has made it properly well-connected, with Bond Street reachable in about 15 minutes. The shopping centre and the high street have a solid mix of chains and independents, and the restaurant scene around Ealing Green and St Mary's Road has got noticeably better in recent years. The housing around Ealing Green and the roads off Haven Green is handsome Victorian and Edwardian stock, some of it genuinely grand. Ealing has marketed itself as the Queen of the Suburbs for over a century and, with the Crossrail boost, the claim is starting to stick again.
