Claygate is a proper village that happens to be inside the M25. The green, the parade of shops, the pubs, and the cricket club all work. It has its own station with a direct service to Waterloo in about 35 minutes. The housing is mostly detached and semi-detached, a lot of it 1930s and later, on leafy roads that back onto countryside towards Chessington. Families settle here for the schools and the feeling of being in a village with a real community, while still being close enough to London. It is expensive but not flashy. People know their neighbours.
