Thames Ditton faces Hampton Court Palace across the river, which sets the tone. The village centre has a proper high street with independent shops, the George & Dragon pub, and a summer regatta on the river. It feels like a riverside village, and residents are protective of that character. Housing is a mix of Victorian, Edwardian, and some very nice riverside properties. Thames Ditton station gets you to Waterloo in about 30 minutes. The annual Thames Ditton Farmers' Market and the Island (a small residential island in the Thames) give it quirks you don't find elsewhere. It's well-off without being showy about it.
