Long Ditton sits between Surbiton and Esher, straddling the border with Kingston. It's mostly residential, with a mix of interwar semis and some larger properties. There's no station of its own, so people use either Surbiton or Esher depending on which end they live. The village centre around St Mary's church has a couple of pubs and a small row of shops. It benefits from being close to Surbiton's excellent high street without paying Surbiton prices. Families like it for the quietness and the proximity to good schools on both the Elmbridge and Kingston sides.
