Stoneleigh is the archetypal 1930s Metroland-style estate, except it's on the Southern railway rather than the Met line. The whole area was built out in one go between the wars and it shows: uniform semis on curving roads, grass verges, and a planned layout. Stoneleigh station gives you a straightforward commute to Waterloo. The Broadway has a small parade of shops that covers the essentials. Nonsuch Park is close for weekend walks. It's unpretentious, functional family suburbia, and the houses have held their value well because three-bed semis with gardens in commuter Surrey are always in demand.
