West of Fleet centre heading towards Elvetham Heath, which is a large development built from the late 1990s onwards. Elvetham Heath has its own community centre, a small row of shops, and a primary school. It feels self-contained and quite new compared to the rest of Fleet. The older parts of Fleet West are standard suburban stock. The Basingstoke Canal runs through here, which is good for walks and cycling. Families with young children gravitate towards the Elvetham Heath end because everything is purpose-built and there's a real community feel on the newer estates.
