Mytchett is a small village along the Basingstoke Canal with a post office, a pub, and not much else in terms of shops. It's peaceful and surrounded by heathland. Deepcut, further south, is defined by the Princess Royal Barracks site, which has been largely redeveloped into a big housing estate. The new builds have brought younger families into the area but there's very little in the way of local amenities yet. The canal and the surrounding pine woods at Deepcut are genuinely lovely for walking. Both places are car-dependent for anything beyond the essentials.
