Chalfont St Giles is a proper village. Stone cottages around the green, a duck pond, the Milton's Cottage museum, and a parish church that's been there since the 13th century. It's quieter and more rural-feeling than its neighbours because it doesn't have its own station. You drive to Seer Green or Chalfont & Latimer to get the train. The village shop and a couple of pubs are about it for daily essentials. Housing is a mix of period cottages in the centre and larger detached houses on the lanes heading out. Families come for the village primary and the space, and stay because it's hard to leave somewhere this pretty.
