Little Chalfont grew up around the Metropolitan line station, and the train is still the main reason people live here. You can be at Baker Street in about 35 minutes. The village centre along the main road has a reasonable parade of shops, a Co-op, a couple of restaurants, and a good butcher. It feels more suburban than Chalfont St Giles but less formal than Gerrards Cross. Housing is mostly 1930s onwards, with some bigger detached houses in the roads off Cokes Lane and around the golf club. The Chilterns walks start right at the edge of the village, which is a genuine selling point for weekend types. Dr Challoner's Grammar School is here, which draws families from across the area.
