Normandy and Pirbright

Two distinct villages grouped together. Pirbright has the classic Surrey village green, a church, a pub, and a strong community feel. Stanley Kubrick is buried in the churchyard, which is about as exciting as it gets. Normandy is more spread out and plainer, with postwar housing along Glaziers Lane and the Westwood Lane area. The military connection is strong here, with Pirbright Camp right next door and the ranges on the common. The commons and heathland around both villages are the real draw, miles of open access land for walking and riding. No station in either village, so you drive to Brookwood or Worplesdon for the train.
