Shacklewell sits between Dalston and Stoke Newington, centred on Shacklewell Lane. It's a transitional area that doesn't have a strong identity of its own but benefits from being walking distance from both Dalston's nightlife and Stoke Newington's cafes. Housing is mostly Victorian terraces with some council stock. The Shacklewell Arms pub became known for live music. It's the sort of place that estate agents would like to brand as its own neighbourhood, and to be fair it is starting to develop one.
