North Harrow

North Harrow has its own Metropolitan line station and a compact but useful parade of shops along Station Road. There is a Sainsbury's, a good mix of independents, and several South Asian restaurants. Housing is classic 1930s Metroland semis, laid out in orderly streets with privet hedges. It is unpretentious suburban London at its most functional. The fast Metropolitan line service into Baker Street is the big draw. Families settle here and stay because the streets are quiet, the schools are accessible, and the commute is manageable.
