Chiddingfold is a proper Surrey village with a large green, a medieval church, and the Crown Inn which claims to be one of the oldest pubs in England. Housing is a mix of period cottages around the green and larger detached places on the lanes heading out. No station, so you're driving to Haslemere or Witley for the train. The village shop and a couple of pubs cover the basics but you'll go to Haslemere or Godalming for a proper shop. It's the kind of place where everyone knows everyone and the cricket is taken seriously. Families like it for the primary school and the space, but teenagers will find it quiet.
