One of the most unexpected places in London. Havering-atte-Bower is a genuine village on a hilltop, surrounded by farmland and woods, with views across Essex. There's a village green, a church, and a couple of pubs. The housing is a mix of period cottages and some very large detached properties. It's hard to believe you're still in a London borough. The main downside is that you need a car for everything, and the nearest station is several miles away. Popular with people who want rural living within the M25.
