Adeyfield was one of the first New Town neighbourhoods built in the early 1950s. The eastern side has rows of pebble-dashed terraces and semis set around cul-de-sacs and greens, very typical of that era's planning ideals. There's a local shopping parade but it's basic. Longlands School is the local primary. It's functional, affordable by Hertfordshire standards, and has an established community feel, though the housing stock is starting to show its age in places.
