Hayes has changed significantly since the Elizabeth line arrived. The town centre around Station Road has seen investment, with new flats and a revamped station approach. The old industrial character is still visible, with the former EMI factory site now redeveloped. Hayes & Harlington station gets you to Bond Street in under 30 minutes on the Elizabeth line, which has made the area much more attractive to commuters. The high street has the usual mix of chain stores and independents. Housing is mainly terraces and semis, more affordable than most of Hillingdon. It's not beautiful, but it's increasingly functional.
