Ruislip

Ruislip has a proper high street with independent shops, a library, and enough pubs and restaurants to sustain an evening out. Ruislip Lido is a reservoir turned country park that gives the area serious green space. The tube station is on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines. Housing is mainly 1930s semis, with some more substantial properties near the golf course. It's popular with families, and the schools are generally well regarded. It manages to feel like a proper place rather than just a dormitory suburb.
