Hitchin Oughton

Named for the River Oughton that runs along the western edge of Hitchin. This is a more mixed residential area with some council-built housing alongside private estates. Oughton Head nature reserve is a genuine local asset, a pocket of countryside right at the edge of town. It is more affordable than the centre or Highbury, and families settle here for the space and proximity to the primary schools.
