Downham sits right at the southern edge of the Lewisham borough and feels much more suburban than the rest of the areas in this review. It is primarily residential with a fairly traditional suburban high street serving local needs, and it has a strong community identity partly because it sits between Lewisham and Bromley boroughs. Transport options are limited compared to most of the other areas covered here, and the area does not have the same buzz or development energy seen in Deptford or Catford. Families who prioritie space and quiet over connectivity tend to do well here.
